My father would like the first picture of the sparrow and the picture of the flower, second to the last.

The technical name of the bird is red robin, it does have the name American but the name of the bird’s name of American, applies the Red robin lives on the entire North American continent, which you know, the North American continent is NOT limited to any one city.

I never heard of this because people usually refer to the name of just American Robin known for its orange belly patch. The only Red Robin I heard of is the fast food chain one.

You must be a very young person, the entire name of the bird is the American red robin, the name of the restaurant is taken from the bird of Red robin. Plus American robin sounds too general referring to the bird.

Well I classify myself a little old even though I have not reached 30 yet haha, but I just never heard of it pronounced that way. Either way it would be the same right? There are for example these spiders called recluse spiders, but there also called fiddle-back spiders, violin spiders, because of their distinctive violin shape located on the cephalothorax. So technically they are the same, but some people say it differently.

I am in my thirties, but you are correct about people using informal names for different animal species. I have noticed the educational system in American doesn’t really teach teenagers (younger people) proper science, that is why much slang in America is generally used to describe items.
