Hello everybody, I hope everybody is having a good Tuesday evening. New photos are available at my site at https://stevenanthony123456.smugmug.com/ As you may know, the first 2 photos are dandelions. Delicious edible flower put on a grilled cheese sandwich is superb. Put some smoked salmon on that and you are on your way to heavenly delicious food.

You can make a salad out of dandelions too.

Absolutely. You can put in a stew or soup as well. Although, I never attempted to cook dandelions that way.

Indeed. The flowers are delicious tasting now. In the fall however, they become a little too bitter. But for now they are tender.

Anytime. What is great about dandelions is they are very common and an invasive species of plants in the USA. Invasive species become a problem because they out compete other plants and they eventually die off.

Yeah, I know of a few that are invasive. When you eat the dandelions, do you just eat the leaves or the whole thing? I know the leaves are what people usually eat, but maybe the flower is eaten too – I don’t know!

You can eat the whole thing. The leaves are more bitter, but the flowers taste excellent for now. They are kind of bitter, but pretty tender in the end.

Anytime. Just make sure you read about them or other wild plants from reliable foragers before consuming them.

So there are amateur and professional foragers?? I guess that does make sense especially with respect to something like mushrooms!

Love the dandelions! Most think of them as pesty weeds, but they are among my favourite flowers, simply because they are wild, they follow no rules, and they fill my yard with warmth and colour!

My dad hates dandelions so he tends to rid them with a mower and weed killer chemicals. They taste excellent along with common blue violets that are near where I live.
